Age of Discovery is the new update for Star Trek Online. From now on, you can create characters from the era of the latest Star Trek series and go to war against the Klingons.
What is Age of Discovery? It is the latest update for Star Trek Online. As with Agents of Yesterday, it takes you back in time to the era of the controversial TV series Star Trek: Discovery.
There you can create a new character on the side of the Federation and experience a new tutorial. Other highlights of the update are:
- Two new episodes: Together with the beloved cadet Tilly (voiced by the original actress) from the series, you will experience new adventures. Among them, the defense of the U.S.S. Glenn against Klingons and the defense battle for Starbase 1 against an attack from the Klingon House D’Ghor.
- New mission commands: The waiting lists in Star Trek Online are being changed to “mission commands”. The latest mission command will send you back to the year 2256 for the defense of Starbase 1.
- Random mission commands – All players who enroll in the new system for a random mission command will be rewarded with an additional bonus.
- Modernized mission log: The mission log has been modernized for all factions of the Federation. This makes it easier to access the main story.
- Additional reputation tier: All reputation factions will be expanded to tier 6 and receive upgrades for existing rewards.
When does Age of Discovery release? The update has already been released for PC. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will follow later.
How does the story of Star Trek Online continue? Age of Discovery is not supposed to end after two episodes. The developers are planning more updates in the Discovery universe. Additionally, the second season of the series will come in spring 2019, which should certainly provide more material for updates.
Fun Fact: Discovery is the first Star Trek series that runs simultaneously with Star Trek Online. An ideal climate for exciting crossovers.
What do you think of the new update? Do you like the Discovery setting or did you find it terrible?
