The MMORPG Star Trek Online will soon receive a new update. In “Age of Discovery,” you can travel back in time again and experience locations and additional stories from the latest Star Trek series, Discovery.
Discovery in Star Trek Online? Wasn’t there something like that before? Indeed, the latest Star Trek series, Discovery, has already been featured multiple times in Star Trek Online. You were able to acquire the ships Discovery and Shenzhou from loot boxes and obtain the cool glitter uniforms from the Discovery era.
However, all of this was merely fluff without story relevance. This should change with Age of Discovery.
Controversial series comes to Star Trek Online
What is Age of Discovery about? The upcoming Discovery update for Star Trek Online will consist of several parts. In the first, there will be two episodes that relate to the series. You will face off against the Klingon leader J’Ula, the sister of the “Klingon Messiah” T’Kuvma.
The sister ship of the Discovery, the U.S.S. Glenn, is also expected to appear. Additionally, there will be a new Task Force Operation for the defense of Star Base 1, as well as an expansion of the reputation system to level 6.
Cadet Tilly is also involved! However, the highlight should be the appearance of Cadet Tilly, voiced by the original actress Mary Wiseman. The always cheerful Tilly became one of the most popular characters of Discovery throughout the series.
Only for Federation? As with Agents of Yesterday, you will have the opportunity to play a Starfleet character from the Discovery era. Other races, such as Romulans or Klingons, are likely not planned.
Klingon fans are upset
Unpopular Space Orks: The fans of the Klingons are therefore divided about the update. On the one hand, they feel excluded, as once again only the humans are getting something new. And many still do not like the peculiar look of the warrior race from Discovery.
The Klingons look like grunting Space Orks with a penchant for Gothic clothing to many. And since the Klingons in Discovery are quite radical enemies, many assume that Klingon players will not have much fun.
