Star Citizen has received a major update called “Adventure Beckons,” bringing all sorts of new content to the space game. In particular, the character editor is truly impressive.
What’s included in the new update? The new update of Star Citizen, “Adventure Beckons”, offers not just a single feature, but a multitude of new content:
- New character editor
- Wild animals
- Podracing like in Star Wars Episode I
- New user interface and map
- New physics for water and 0G gravity
- New ship system reminiscent of Elite Dangerous
- Megastructures as new mission hubs
- New spaceships and much more
To celebrate the new update, the developers at Robert Space Industries have released a trailer showcasing the contents of the update:
Star Wars Episode 1 says hello – this is now possible in Star Citizen
Podracer from Star Wars, what should that look like? In Star Citizen, there are now small gliders that allow you to fly quickly over the surface of planets. The first sight in the trailer immediately evokes memories of the pod race from Star Wars, and the gliders function similarly in Star Citizen, though there are no Tusken Raiders here.
The gliders are super fast and enable players to explore the worlds much more easily and, above all, faster. However, there are no real races with a goal or special mode.
What’s the deal with the wild animals? The world of Star Citizen is becoming increasingly lively. As a new feature, the developers present wild animals that now inhabit the game world. The animals can be hunted – but you cannot eat them.
So far, the animals don’t have many functions aside from fighting against them. Nevertheless, it is a first step towards worlds full of wild animals that will exist eventually.
New Character Editor makes you pretty
How good is the new character editor? Character creation feels much better now thanks to the new editor. Not only are there all kinds of hair colors that also relate to your natural hair color, but you can also adjust every wrinkle and shape of the head.
The character editor has brought many new possibilities for customization to the game, including new beards and all kinds of interesting hairstyles. Those who can’t get enough of extraordinary makeup in real life can now have fun in Star Citizen as well, as there are many new options available.
Another important feature is the new megastructures as mission hubs. They allow players to fight against enemies together with friends, similar to dungeons in MMORPGs.
The entire system surrounding the shooter mechanics has also received an update, which not only looks better but is also supposed to offer greater user-friendliness. There are also new spaceships with the update. However, some features did not make it into the major update: Exciting feature of Star Citizen will come later, it posed too great a risk to the playability of the sci-fi MMO
