The work on the space MMO Star Citizen is progressing. Currently, the release of Update 2.6 for the test server is being prepared, focusing on the shooter part Star Marine.
Star Marine is an important part of Star Citizen. From a first-person perspective, you explore space stations and planets, engaging in intense shooter battles with enemies. These encounters need to be fluid and fast-paced, just like you would expect from shooters. There have been some issues here, especially regarding animations and the overall “feel.” Update 2.6 will introduce several changes that will benefit Star Marine – which will finally be integrated into the game as a module. This includes polishing the overall game, as well as improved animations. Star Marine has been continuously tested and revised internally, and has now reached a “showable” state.
Update 2.6 is on the horizon
Additionally, Update 2.6 will bring some more new features. This includes significant adjustments to the lobby system as well as new missions for you to tackle. The GrimHex space station will also be expanded. And, of course, new ships will find their way into the game. This time, they are the Hoplite and the Herald.
There are still many works in progress
Update 2.6 is currently being tested internally and is expected to be released on the Star Citizen test server very soon. The developers state that testers need to be aware that there are still some bugs in the update. The purpose of the test server is to find these bugs together. In a new video, the developers of Star Citizen present the upcoming Update 2.6 in more detail. It also showcases new animations of NPCs that are meant to make the game world feel more alive.
It is still unclear when exactly Update 2.6 will be released for the space MMO Star Citizen.
