Space stations play an important role in the MMO Star Citizen. The developers have now talked about what one can expect from these.
If you log out of Star Citizen, you will awaken in the space base Port Olisar during your next login, as long as you are too far away from your own hangar. In Port Olisar, there are rooms that can be rented, and there will soon be businesses where certain items can be purchased. Weapons are prohibited on the station, which is currently enforced by simply not allowing players to draw their weapons. Later, security forces and turrets will come into play to ensure that there are no fights on Port Olisar.
Own a space station
The developers of Star Citizen have considered whether players should even be able to destroy the station. However, they decided against it, as this would cause too many problems. In a universe where everything could be destroyed, everything would likely be destroyed shortly after launch, they believe. And one must prioritize fun above all.
Instead, they are considering whether players could own their own stations and determine aspects such as taxes or gravity conditions there. They haven’t discussed the possible costs of owning a space station yet.
Plan a prison break
There are also plans to expand the legal system. One idea is to have a space station for renegades and criminals. A pirate base where you wake up after logging in when you are in conflict with the law. Additionally, there are plans for a prison station. If caught committing crimes, a player goes to jail and must serve their sentence – unless friends attempt to break them out of prison.
Currently, work is being done on update 2.4.0 of the MMO Star Citizen, which will introduce customization options for heroes through clothing.
