Star Citizen is an enormously ambitious game project that has taken on massive proportions. Now, another studio is set to help finish building the galaxy.
What kind of studio is this? A new team is being assembled in Montreal. The studio “Turbulent” has been collaborating with Cloud Imperium Games for some time but is now set to take on larger tasks. Among other things, they are creating entire star systems to fill the galaxy of the space MMO with worlds.
I am very proud to officially announce the establishment of a Star Citizen development team at Turbulent in Montreal. Montreal has an amazing talent pool of developers and a rich video game history. We could not be happier to add the very best local talents of the CIG family and work toward the common goal of creating worlds for this unprecedented persistent universe.
Benoit Beausejour, Chief Technical Officer at Turbulent
Star systems can be created more quickly
Why is this so important? Star Citizen has now been in development for 10 years and is still far from a release. The space MMO, which is among the largest crowdfunding MMOs, aims to provide players with a vast galaxy that they can explore and in which they can forge their own paths – whether as traders, pirates, or adventurers.
But for that, star systems need to be built. Planets where players can land and which promise adventure, wealth, and fame. This naturally takes a lot of time. Here, help from the studio “Turbulent” comes at just the right time. A team dedicated to creating entire star systems should significantly speed up the development of Star Citizen.
What kind of adventures await you in Star Citizen? Essentially, you write your own story. You are the architect of your adventures. How this can look is shown in a new, stunning video that kicks off a short film series:
When is Star Citizen coming out? There is still no date. The single-player offshoot Squadron 42 also has no release date yet. Fans just need to be patient, enjoy the modules available so far or the Free Fly events, and participate in development through feedback.
Want to learn more about Squadron 42? Star Citizen has finally broken the silence about Squadron 42 – this is what the developers say.
