The space MMO Star Citizen has been in development for several years now, after being launched via a crowdfunding project at the end of 2012. The developers have now completed their first system with Alpha version 3.14: The Stanton System with the cloud city Orison.
This is Star Citizen: Star Citizen is the space MMO simulation financed through crowdfunding by developer Cloud Imperium Games, which aims to set graphical standards. The Kickstarter campaign got the game underway in 2012, and it has now at least reached an alpha status. When a release will occur is still unclear.
Despite the unknown release date, Star Citizen is still supported by its fans. The total crowdfunding amount continues to rise, and reached the milestone of 350,000,000 dollars in March 2021.
The completed star system has an extravagant cloud city
What has been completed now? With the release of Alpha patch 3.14, the gas giant Crusader has been introduced, around which the cloud city Orison orbits. Orison is a landing zone and consists of a network of various stations, such as hangars, shipyards, and hotels. Overall, the cloud city appears quite extravagant and is probably a successful embellishment of the Stanton System.
In addition to the gameplay options that Orison will offer players in the future, the release of the cloud city also gives developers the chance to showcase their new technology. With the new “Cloud-Tech,” clouds can be represented very realistically in colors, shapes, and volumes.

What else is in the patch? With Alpha patch 3.14, besides Crusader and Orison, several other contents have been released:
- Transport ship Taurus
- New HUD elements
- Task option against security forces
- New flight mode for missiles
It remains exciting regarding when Star Citizen will finally be released. However, the fact that there is now a first completed star system with Stanton is at least good news regarding the progress of development.
