In the coming week, Cloud Imperium Games will release Update 3.2 for the space MMO Star Citizen. Mining and improved group play will be the focus.
Slowly but surely, Star Citizen is progressing. With the Alpha 3.2, a step closer to the release of the MMORPG will be taken in a few days.

Mine resources
Mining as an exciting feature. Alpha 3.2 introduces mining into the game. The developers aim to implement this feature in an exciting and fun way.
- You scan locations, discover resources, and mine them to sell
- The mining system is expected to significantly impact the in-game economy
- During mining, PvP battles may occur if other players also discover and want to mine the resources
- Other players can wait until you have finished the mining work and then ambush you to steal the cargo
- With the mined resources, you will earn credits and can purchase new weapons and better ships, for example
Form groups. With the new grouping system, it is easier to find other players and embark on adventures together. The Quantum-Linking system also plays an important role here. It allows you to travel within the same solar system simultaneously. Grouping is designed to enable more and interesting interactions among players.
There’s more to come. Additionally, Alpha 3.2 will bring several more features, including manned turrets, G-forces, new spaceships, bug fixes, and much more.
A little criticism is included
Improved AI did not make it into this version. The developers also note that not everything they planned for version 3.2 has made it into the update. The improved AI of the NPCs, for example, will come later. Some players are somewhat disappointed by this.
Players are happy but also have suggestions for improvements. On the Public Test Server, Alpha 3.2 is already playable. Generally, the update is well received. Fans find the mining system particularly exciting. However, there are also some suggestions for improvements in the official forum:
- The controls for mining are not precise enough and should be optimized
- It often takes a long time to mine resources. If nothing exciting happens in the meantime, it becomes boring
- The interface should be revised, as information can be hard to identify
- Overall, the performance of the game is still criticized. However, the developers explain that this is “normal” in an alpha
In the coming days, Alpha 3.2 is set to be released on the regular servers of Star Citizen.
