Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa is one of the biggest streamers on Twitch. In early June, she revealed that she is being stalked. The stalker even flew from Estonia to America for this. Most recently, the stalker tried to gain access to her apartment and was arrested by the police after 44 days.
What has Amouranth been through?
- In a thread on Twitter, the Twitch streamer spoke about her stalker. He supposedly came into her area 44 days ago, on May 8, 2022 – to Houston in America. The stalker is said to have originally lived in Estonia. But for his obsession, he left his old life behind and even went into debt.
- He is said to have camped daily at the Starbucks next to her mailbox to see Amouranth.
- He is claimed to have shown his stalking live on Twitch. Originally with 0 viewers, but the account allegedly spread. Although the stalker was banned multiple times, he constantly created new accounts with slightly adjusted names on Twitch.
- On June 13, the stalker is said to have tried to enter her house. She then called the police, who initially rudely dismissed her, but after 33 minutes sent a patrol that allegedly arrested the stalker.
The stalker became increasingly intrusive, even though he realized himself that it was wrong
How does Amouranth describe the stalker’s behavior? Amouranth says that the stalker left everything behind to get to the streamer.
According to his own statement, he sold everything and left only scorched earth behind, giving up his life in Europe to embark on a hopeless and self-destructive journey. He pawned his worldly possessions, sold his house, his car, all his belongings, even his cat.
All according to his own admission and in a series of publicly posted and privately conducted (vlogged) videos.
He is said to have moved to a hotel near her mailbox. There, he was supposedly camped at Starbucks for over a month, which is also right next to her mailbox. From there, he streamed every minute in real time on Twitch.
He also allegedly sent messages and videos repeatedly. In one, he reenacted the “Buffalo Bill dance scene” from The Silence of the Lambs.
On June 13, he is said to have set off for her house. He filmed himself creeping around the house and showed this on Twitch. He allegedly mumbled, according to Amouranth, that it was wrong, but he had to do it.
When he then attempted to break into the house, the streamer called the emergency services. They reportedly first put her on hold, but after 33 minutes finally sent a patrol. Amouranth herself had an armed person as personal protection in the house, who had cameras, a security system, and a guard dog.
In the end, the stalker is said to have been arrested. The embassy of Estonia was contacted, and the man is said to no longer be in Houston. That’s all she can say for now.
Not only Amouranth is threatened by stalkers
Stalkers are a problem for female streamers on Twitch. Viewers can interact with them almost every day and build a kind of relationship. They develop personal feelings, even though they are complete strangers to the streamers. This phenomenon is also experienced with actors or musicians.
For some people, this escalates into pathological behavior. People become stalkers and even try to ruin the lives of streamers when their feelings are not reciprocated:
- Recently, we reported on MeinMMO about a WoW streamer who was harassed for years by a former moderator with psychological terror and suffered heavily from it.
- Stalking can also begin without being physically present. Streamer Beddle received messages in which the stalker sent her signs from her street or the number of stairs to her apartment.
This stalking is not only frightening but can also lead to significant restrictions. A female streamer reports that she no longer dares to attend events like TwitchCon, even though she always enjoyed it and met friends and fans there:
