The Spotlight Hours in Pokémon GO are a popular event. However, there is currently a change affecting the event.
What is a Spotlight Hour? This is a small, 60-minute event that has taken place every Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. During this time, there was at least one Pokémon that appeared in large numbers in the game along with a bonus.
Attentive trainers may have noticed that this event has not taken place in recent weeks. And there is a reason for that.
New Season, Big Changes
Why are there no more Spotlight Hours? With the announcement of the new season Memories in Motion in Pokémon GO, the plan for weekly content has changed significantly. The Spotlight Hours are also affected.
While they always took place on Tuesdays from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM in previous seasons, Tuesday is now dedicated to showcases in the current season. Accordingly, the day of the week in the game is also referred to as “Showcase Tuesday”.
The Spotlight Hours have been eliminated and are currently no longer taking place in the form you knew. They now seem to appear as part of events, for example at the next big Electric Event, in the game.
However, according to the current knowledge, the bonus of the Spotlight Hour, which has made the event really strong, is missing.
Is this change permanent? Currently, it is assumed that the Spotlight Hours in the form you knew them in the past will not return in the current season. This runs until June 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
Whether they will come back in their old form in future seasons is not yet known. If there are any updates, we will of course report on it and adjust this article for you.
The change to the Spotlight Hours may cause frustration for some trainers. This is also the case for MeinMMO author Paul Kutzner, for whom the event was a guarantee to get a round in the game on Tuesdays in certain combinations: Pokémon GO causes with change that I now unfortunately have more time for other things on Tuesdays.
