What’s happening in Destiny 2 right now? The last few months have been a tumultuous time for Bungie. After parting ways with publisher Activision, the developer announced that Destiny 2 will soon transition from Battle.net to Steam and the base game will become free-to-play.
Also in terms of updates, there is currently a lot happening in Destiny 2. After the launch of the new season in Destiny 2, the developer introduced the new expansion Shadowkeep, which is expected to be released on September 17. At the same time, the in-game shop “Eververse” will undergo a significant overhaul to become more user-friendly.
The story of Shadowkeep leads Guardians around the Moon and brings back the beloved NPC Eris Morn.
Here’s how the player numbers stand: The changes at Bungie and Destiny 2 seem to be reflected in the current player numbers, as they are on the rise. Across all platforms, around one million players are currently playing Destiny 2:
- PvE: 960,000 players
- Crucible: 482,000 players
- Gambit: 272,000 players
- Raids: 141,000 players
On social media, like Twitter, active players are celebrating this and inviting more players to join. Even though games like Anthem or The Division 2 were initially said to be “Destiny killers”, it seems that Bungie’s shooter is faring better.
