Monster Hunter Wilds has been struggling with its biggest issue since its release: performance. Now, a player has reportedly found a solution to the problem, which could cost you quite a bit.
What is the player’s solution to the poor performance? The Reddit user de_Tylmarande wrote a post about a strange discovery. When he played Monster Hunter Wilds on his friend’s account, he noticed that he had significantly more FPS than with his own Steam account.
He found out that his friend owned all 190 DLCs, while the user only had the base game. de_Tylmarande mentions in his post that Monster Hunter Wilds performs an aggressive check to see whether you own the various DLCs or not. It follows that he would have had significantly worse performance with his account, on which no DLC was purchased, compared to his friend’s account.
More DLCs = Better Performance
How did the user find this out? With a self-created mod to make the game believe he had purchased all the DLCs, he confirmed his theory. He discovered that there were significant FPS improvements as soon as he “owned” more DLCs.
In his test, he played the intro and compared the FPS in one of the central hubs, a place where many players gather. With his RTX 3070, the FPS in Monster Hunter Wilds in a hub would drop to 20-25. With all the DLCs, he had over 80 FPS.
In a comment, the Reddit user states that he has already used his fifth PC to further test his theory, and the results have been positive every time.
What is the user doing with these results? de_Tylmarande states that he sent his results to Capcom, the developer of Monster Hunter Wilds. In the past, he found a bug in the game Dragons Dogma 2 and sent Capcom his tests. Later, the bug was reportedly removed according to him.
On February 18, 2026, the next update for Monster Hunter Wilds is set to be released.
