The pack points in Pokémon TCG Pocket are a good way to obtain missing cards. However, you cannot save them indefinitely.
What are pack points? Every time you open a booster in Pokémon TCG Pocket, you receive 5 cards. With a bit of luck, you can even hit a God Pack and score 5 rare cards. In addition to the cards, you also receive the so-called pack points corresponding to the booster series with each booster.
You can use these to obtain cards that are particularly difficult to find in boosters. You exchange the pack points directly for the corresponding card. Depending on the rarity of the card, the cost for this is higher or lower.
But you have to be careful – because pack points are not everlasting.
With the booster series, the points also disappear
When do pack points expire? In Pokémon TCG Pocket, just like in the real Pokémon trading card game, new booster series are released over time. According to the developers of TCG Pocket, even a new booster series is set to release this year.
While in the real Pokémon trading card game older boosters eventually stop being printed and thus automatically disappear from retailers, there will also be an expiration date for booster series in TCG Pocket. When a series disappears from the game, the pack points will also expire, and you will not be able to exchange them for cards anymore.
You can find a corresponding notice in the game when you click on the “i” in the pack points menu.
Is there already a specific expiration date? No. As of now, there is no specific date known for when the first booster series will be removed from the game and your pack points will expire.
It is assumed that Pokémon TCG Pocket will inform players in advance and will not suddenly remove the series from the game.
Nevertheless, you should keep in mind that the points do not last forever, and therefore you should use them before they expire. You should also spend them when you have already collected 2,500 pack points, as this is the maximum and you cannot collect any more points.
