Spellweaver TCG is a game that is inspired by competitors like Magic or Hearthstone, but it also brings its own aspects and is thus different enough.t.
Since our test of the online card game Spellweaver, some time has passed. The game has naturally been actively developed. An overview of the new features at the beginning of the open beta is also available from us. Due to a winter promotion, the current time is particularly suitable for newcomers. Good reason to introduce the most important innovations.
Winter Promotion
Every new account will receive 100,000 additional gold until the end of the year if they provide GOLD4DPEOPLE during registration. This amount is sufficient to purchase 8 additional booster packs or 2 additional starter decks.
As the game is in open beta and is free to play, undecided players can also take a look at it for testing. At least if there is a general interest in such card games.
6 New Heroes
During the closed beta, there was something akin to a crowdfunding campaign. The funds for development were already available, and additional funds could be provided to select a goal. For example, a draft mode. One of these goals was new heroes for the factions.
While they are not quite as decisive in deck building as Hearthstone, as they do not limit the available cards, each hero has unique abilities that can indeed have a significant impact on the game. Additional heroes complicate the balancing but ideally bring more variety.
New Game Board
The game board is a constant companion and should be set up in such a way that no manual is needed to operate it. In addition to good visibility, aesthetics are also valued. It should at least be presentable, and ideally, it should be as detailed as Blizzard’s titles. Although some might prefer fewer effects.
Throughout the development, the Spellweaver game field experienced several revisions. Mostly visual, as in the latest update. The background, card edges, and card animations have been adjusted. The changes are coherent and represent a consistent improvement. It was also noted that further improvements are possible until the release.
Rating Race
This is a system that rewards those who lead the leaderboard. They are rewarded with gold or the in-game shop currency Crystals. However, it is still subject to constant changes.
Currently, there is a tiered reward system for the top 50 players who lead the monthly leaderboard. So that it is not decided after just a few days who stays at the top and who does not, there is a weekly decay of the ratings. The points of all players are adjusted every Friday to a base value of 1000. Those with over 1000 points lose some, while those below receive some. The ratio of players to each other remains the same. This means everyone retains their previous position. Only the difference in absolute numbers has become smaller. This prevents the top 50 from gaining too large a distance, allowing others to catch up.
Other Innovations
Updates are released at regular intervals. For example, card backs, friendship systems, and chat systems have been added. There was also an adjustment of gold rewards. This is indeed a beta. This means that experimental changes are also being made. For example, there were several adjustments to the life points. First, they increased to 25, but later they were reduced again to 20 because games were too slow. Those who do not want radical upheavals should therefore wait until the release.
Such innovations often come with compensation. When life was reduced, Crystals were granted as compensation. This way, one does not have to be upset that they just purchased cards for a specific deck, whose strategy no longer works. All in all, it’s a fair system.
If you are tired of beta early access models, you won’t have to wait long anymore. The release is planned for the end of January 2016.
