Spanish broadcaster reports on Papal election, underscores the news with scenes from Dark Souls 3, which could not be more inappropriate

The successor of the Pope is either to ignite the age of fire or return as reborn ashes – why else would Spanish television accompany reports from Rome with Dark Souls 3? No joke, that actually happened.

What was shown? A short sequence from Spanish television appeared on Reddit. It was about the upcoming successor of the Pope and the current state of the election. Candidates fight for the position of the Pope

Why is the clip so absurd? According to a user on Reddit, the channel used the clip from Dark Souls 3 to fittingly underscore the contested elections for the successor of the Pope.

The footage shows the boss fight against Pontiff Sulyvahn in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. Although the fight is very impressive, the choice of the accompaniment feels wrong, especially when it comes to such a serious topic as the election of the successor.

If that wasn’t enough, the protagonist from the short boss sequence is also wearing an appropriate armor and a hat, further emphasizing that a candidate of the holy church is fighting against the boss.
