The ambitious MMORPG Chrono Odyssey is set to be released this year for PC and consoles. Now the sign-ups for the upcoming playtest on Steam are open.
What is known about the playtest? Not too much yet. Recently, interested parties can request access for the upcoming playtest of Chrono Odyssey on Steam. Via X.com, community managers Manny and Jenny accompanied the live launch of the registration.
The latest test of the MMORPG took place in February 2025 and allowed a rather small focus group to enter the world of Setera. Since the release of Chrono Odyssey is expected to happen this year, one can assume that the next test will be significantly larger and will likely start soon.

Between Anticipation and Skepticism
How does the community react to the playtest? On Reddit, players discuss the upcoming playtest, highlighting both their reservations about the game and their anticipation for Chrono Odyssey:
- andre1157 sees the playtest on Reddit as a surprising sign: “Oh damn, the game is actually real.”
- Calm_Title_8203 adds on Reddit: “Exactly my thoughts, lol. I half expected the studio either to suddenly disappear or for the game to turn into another crypto scam title.”
- Significant-Buy9424 criticizes publisher Kakao Games in his post on Reddit: “It’s definitely going to be a Pay2Win shitshow, similar to Black Desert Online. Maybe it’s okay for a year or so? Then they will grease their fists and off we go.”
- asleeplongtime looks forward to the test on Reddit: “It looks surprisingly interesting, I’ve requested access.”
- Clayskii0981 writes on Reddit: “Looks like Souls-like combat in a PVE MMO. Should be fun.”
One of the gameplay trailers for Chrono Odyssey:
What do I need to know about Chrono Odyssey? Chrono Odyssey was introduced back in late 2020. About 120 developers are working on the game. This action MMORPG will take you into the world of Setera, which is said to be not only large, seamless, varied, and open, but also in constant flux – due to seasons and weather events.
The changes will also be triggered by time travel, as you can switch between the past, present, and future. The transition is expected to happen seamlessly in the game world – similar to the travel between the two worlds in Lords of the Fallen from 2023.
In Chrono Odyssey, you can choose between six combat classes: Paladin, Swordsman, Berserker, Assassin, Ranger, and Mage. Each class will have several weapon types available, which you can merrily swap during combat. In battle, you can – regardless of your class choice – manipulate space and time with the so-called Chronoprotector.
The developers promise dungeon and raid challenges. There will also be PvP content and collecting – as well as crafting activities. You can undertake tasks such as harvesting, lumberjacking, mining, and skinning. The resources can be processed into equipment and consumables.
In addition to Chrono Odyssey, several other MMORPGs are set to finally release this year. Other exciting online role-playing games will go live no earlier than 2026 or later.
