Fortnite has been around for many years and those who weren’t there from the beginning have missed out on a large part of the “Battle Pass” skins. However, this could change with the release of Chapter 6. A loophole could bring back many old Battle Passes if Epic Games takes advantage of it.
What do new players wish for? Content from old Battle Passes that they missed. Especially iconic skins and emotes can no longer be obtained, as players would have had to play during that time. So anyone starting Fortnite in 2024 and looking back at past passes has missed a lot.
Many fans therefore wish for a way to access these skins, either through the reintroduction of these Battle Passes or a separate offering in a special shop. The former might happen soon, as Epic Games is currently creating a loophole to bring back old “Battle Pass” content from Chapter 1.
Unfortunately, this would not please everyone, especially not the OG players who have been there from the beginning.
How Epic Games could bring back old skins from Battle Passes
What does the loophole look like? Epic Games itself states on its official page (via epicgames.com) to explain the Battle Passes and their rewards: “Rewards from a Battle Pass can only be earned in the corresponding season and are not available in future seasons.”
As Epic Games has declared the upcoming OG mode with Chapter 1 Season 1, many fans are now assuming that the developers have found such a loophole to bring back old Battle Passes. User zekesyeet revealed on x.com additional hints that point to such an intention:
- All seasons are returning
- The Battle Pass images in the shop have been updated
- Epic Games has moved A LOT of old BP images into a new folder called “Offer Catalog”.
If they do not return as a Battle Pass, then perhaps in a seasonal shop for V-Bucks. Players could then purchase them separately, depending on what they missed.
Why would OG fans be upset? Those who do not know OG fans: they are the ones who have been there from the beginning. They held onto the beta of Fortnite: Battle Royale, believed in it, and also possess many skins from that time. But they are also the ones who escalate on all social networks when their highly coveted, rare items are suddenly made available to everyone.
Epic Games has often brought rare shop items back to the item shop and sold them. Different fans then stormed onto X and Reddit to express their displeasure.
If Epic Games were to take this step, it remains to be seen how the developers plan to appease their loyal customers from the start, as they certainly will not agree and will feel betrayed.
