In the “State of Play” livestream, Sony showcased some gameplay videos for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4: They featured gameplay of the new multiplayer ARPG Genshin Impact. This is evident in the new trailer with beautiful graphics and a Zelda feel.
This is what Sony shows: In the new gameplay trailer for Genshin Impact, Sony displays some of the content of the new co-op game. Numerous magical abilities can be seen. One character freezes a river to cross it.
Another conjures a magical bird, for combat or exploration, and another seems to wield some kind of dark magic.
Additionally, scenes from a battle against a giant wolf are visible, apparently a strong boss. Here, players fight together to achieve victory.
The entire game strongly resembles Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the latest installment in the famous and beloved series – only with a multiplayer aspect. Especially the visuals and the design of the bosses and the environment are reminiscent of Link’s adventures.
However, it will likely not be an MMO. Genshin Impact is likely designed for group play and co-op gameplay.
What is Genshin Impact? Genshin Impact is a new co-op action RPG developed by an army of developers. It is being developed by the Chinese company miHoYo.
The game has already been compared early on with the Zelda series, particularly Breath of the Wild. One of the earlier gameplay trailers has already caused many Zelda fans to compare Genshin Impact with the game:
However, upon its announcement in 2019, there was some controversy surrounding the game. Some fans of the Zelda series apparently saw too many similarities with the latest installment, Breath of the Wild. A fan even destroyed a PS4 in protest at the event to express his displeasure with this “copy”.
When can I play it? The final closed beta is expected to start in the third quarter of 2020 on the PS4.
