Sony announced several unusual games for the PS5 today. What multiplayer games are included?
Overview of the games: Via Twitter, the official PlayStation account shared a brief summary of the games that can be expected on the PS5 over the coming weeks and months.
These are not huge triple-A hits, but rather some unusually intriguing games – and most of them offer a multiplayer component.
What kind of games have been announced? We present them to you here in the overview.
No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky has a rather long history: The game generated enormous expectations before its release, but then failed to meet them. However, instead of abandoning the game, it received update after update – and thus regained the favor of its players.
In No Man’s Sky, you can explore the infinite expanses of space that are continuously generated. You can discover uncharted worlds, travel from planet to planet by spaceship, and encounter unusual creatures. And this will also be possible on PS5 – in an enhanced next-gen version. Those who already own the game can secure the upgrade for free and carry over their progress.
The new version is expected to utilize the haptic feedback of the DualSense controller, offer fuller worlds, and support a 32-player multiplayer. In addition, there will be quick loading times and 4K at 60FPS – if your TV can support it. Furthermore, there will be crossplay with all other versions.
When is it coming? The next-gen version of No Man’s Sky will be available at the console launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Temtem
Temtem made headlines early this year as “the Pokémon MMO” and exploded on Steam. It shares many parallels with the monster series. However, instead of catching Pokémon, you catch Temtem here – together with your friends.
Until now, Temtem was only playable on PC; a console release is planned for 2021. However, the PS5 offers an exception: Temtem will be available in early access for PS5 this year. There you can visit 4 of the 6 islands and tackle the co-op campaign. Additionally, there will be matches against other trainers, character customization, and the furnishing of your own house.
When is it coming? Early access to Temtem on PS5 will be available from December 8.
Haven
Haven offers perhaps the most unusual premise from this lineup. You take on the role of a couple who has found a new home on a foreign planet. The trailer shows, among other things, how they glide over vast grasslands, fight against robots, and gather food.
The game can be played solo or in couch co-op. You can support each other in combat, and there are various team attacks. Additionally, there are different dialogue options throughout the story, where you must agree on how to steer the narrative in co-op.
When is it coming? The game is set to be released on December 3 on PS5 – so even before the PS4 release in early 2021. It will be available on Xbox Series X from the same date in the Game Pass.
Tribes of Midgard
Tribes of Midgard is a survival action RPG that you can tackle together in co-op. As the name suggests, the game places you in a Nordic fantasy world.
You play as a Viking and try to secure your survival. You can do this alone or in a clan with up to ten Vikings. The goal is to defend the seed of the tree Yggdrasil – and each night, you will face waves of enemies that want to harm the tree. Ragnarök is getting closer day by day, and the enemies will become stronger.
In the game, you can defeat enemies, collect resources, and explore the world. Your enemies include trolls, dark elves, wolves, and more. There are also the gigantic, unusual giants. These bosses will be the toughest challenge in the game and are said to represent a unique task each.
When is it coming? Tribes of Midgard has been announced for 2021 on PS5 and Steam – but a specific date has not yet been provided.
And what is Bugsnax?
The fifth game from the PS5 tweet is also quite unusual: The PS5 launch title Bugsnax is a bizarre-looking action-adventure. Here, you travel to a strangely resembling island, where living snacks roam freely. Encounters with crazy creatures are guaranteed.
However, Bugsnax is currently a single-player game.
Nevertheless, it is likely to be an interesting title for many players who have had the luck to secure a PS5: It will be released as the first monthly PS5 game as part of PS Plus in November. It can be downloaded without any additional cost if you are already a customer of the online service.
