For a while, there had been rumors that Sony could introduce a pro controller for the PS5. And that has now happened at gamescom 2022. Sony showed the DualSense Edge, a controller for the PS5, and revealed more details about the device.

What kind of controller is this? Sony introduced the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller at gamescom 2022. This is a new controller for the PS5. The special thing about this controller is that you can fully customize it – a wish that many users have long expressed for the PlayStation. Until now, you always had to buy third-party controllers if you wanted to customize your controller more.

What features does the controller have? Sony explained in an official blog post that you can customize the controller entirely to your needs:
- You can customize and remap every element, from the thumbstick to the buttons to the triggers.
- You can also save your button mappings for each game and create profiles, if you want to play different genres.
- The DualSense Edge also offers its own interface where you can directly adjust the setup of the controller. Therefore, you do not need to leave the game.
- Another feature is the interchangeable stick caps and back buttons.
- The stick modules are also interchangeable. So if you experience drift issues, you can simply replace the parts.
Otherwise, not much changes with the controller itself: The DualSense Edge Wireless Controller continues to offer the same features as the DualSense Wireless Controller in supported games, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, a built-in microphone, and motion control.
What are the user reactions? Under the official YouTube video, viewers express their enthusiasm. Many have apparently been waiting for such a controller. Some comments include:

The ability to swap out the stick modules is really something special. It means if your sticks start to drift and they are no longer playable, you can simply replace the whole module and it works like new again!

How great the interest in a pro controller is, another manufacturer already showed. They had introduced a pro controller for the PS5, but the device was already sold out after a short time.
DualSense Edge Wireless Controller: Release and Price Unknown
When will the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller be released? Sony has not announced a release date for the new PS5 controller. However, we suspect that Sony will release the controller for the upcoming Christmas season (November/early December 2022).
However, we cannot tell you how good the availability will be and if everyone interested can buy a controller.
What will the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller cost? Sony has not yet mentioned a price for the new Edge controller. However, the price will likely be significantly higher than the regular DualSense. For the Xbox Elite Controller, one pays about 150 Euros.
