Those who wanted to play the hero shooter Paladins by Hi-Rez Studios on PlayStation 4 with their friends on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will be disappointed again. Sony still prevents the option for crossplay.
Crossplay brings players together: Crossplay refers to cross-platform gaming. So if you play on PC, you can still game with your buddy on Xbox One. With crossplay, everyone can stay on their preferred platform and still have fun together.
This also applies to Paladins, the colorful hero shooter, which celebrates its release on Nintendo Switch on June 12. Players on the Switch will be able to play with those who own an Xbox One. But once again, there is an exception for crossplay: Sony and PlayStation!
Sony once again does not want crossplay
As in the past, including with Fortnite, Sony does not want to allow crossplay from other platforms to PlayStation 4 this time either. The crossplay of Paladins is therefore limited to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Sony has no interest in participating in this crossplay. This was confirmed by Hi-Rez in a tweet in response to player inquiries.
Sony is not too keen on x-play. 🙁

Why does Sony do this? As a reason, Sony officially cites the safety of players. After all, they cannot control what players on other platforms say and do. They want to protect their own community, especially the children.
Crossplay: Almost everyone wants it, but not everyone
It is complicated: In addition, there are a lot of technical and business issues. Also with World of Tanks, the developers would like crossplay between Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The two versions are very similar to each other. Still, nothing happened.
For crossplay to happen, Microsoft and Sony would first have to clarify this among themselves. However, the two companies probably do not communicate on this issue. Therefore, crossplay between the two consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4 remains a pious wish of the players.
Technically, this is probably not a big problem: In Fortnite, the developers “Epic Games” have occasionally activated crossplay between PS4 and Xbox One. Allegedly, this was a small “bug” that occurred from time to time and was then resolved. Various developers have repeatedly emphasized that crossplay would not be a technical issue.
