The demise of Highguard came even faster than its critics thought possible. Now Sony is taking care of those on the PS5 who still believed in the shooter.
What does Sony plan? As reported by former players of Highguard on PlayStation, Sony has started issuing refunds for purchases in Highguard. This is happening to players without any request to support, but purely from Sony itself.
One user shows a screenshot with several refunds that Sony has returned to him. Whether Sony itself is behind this or the developers of Highguard is still unknown.
Other users report that they still have to fight for their spending on Steam and Xbox, and there are no automatic refunds yet on those platforms.

Early End for Highguard
What will be refunded? Highguard was meant to be a live-service game that would be successful for years, but the early end also destroyed the access of supporters to skins and other in-game purchases that were made.
Although the shooter was free, its fans who spent real money on skins have been waiting for refunds since its end.
How did Highguard come to such a rapid end? Even the release of Highguard was demonized by many fans. The hatred for the title was already significant before it even started, because the developers showcased their game as a major new announcement at the Game Awards, while fans were expecting something different.
But even in-game there were many problems with Highguard. While professionals quickly understood the various phases of the shooter, casual players faced too many obstacles to find a good entry point.
The shooter did not guide its new players enough, leading to numerous complaints about the large game world, which beginners found difficult to navigate.
The wave of hate and the loss of casual players right from the start caused significant problems for Highguard. Even though the developers tried to turn the tide with new content until the end, they ultimately had to concede defeat.
Less than two months after launch, the servers were taken offline, and the game was sent to video game heaven.
That Sony is now issuing refunds for in-game purchases is good for the fans. At the same time, other buyers are still waiting for those exact refunds on Steam and Xbox. Whether there will be any here is still unclear.
