The mega corporation Sony has reached out with good news: Apparently, the situation with the PlayStation 5 is slowly easing. The semiconductor shortage has caused long-standing issues, but these difficulties have now been under control for about 9 months. By March 2022, Sony aims to practically double the number of sold PlayStation 5 consoles.
This was the problem:

- This global shortage of PlayStation 5 is due to one component being so rare: semiconductors. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for the component rose, but supply did not keep pace. - Now, however, Sony is giving an all-clear. The situation with semiconductors is expected to ease. In the next 9 months, the number of sold PS5 units is expected to practically double.

The semiconductor shortage has affected various areas. Through several measures, we have now taken actions to counter this. For the PS5, we have set a unit quantity that we want to sell this year, and we have secured the necessary number of chips we need to achieve this goal.
Regarding the supply of semiconductors, we are not concerned.

How many PlayStation 5 consoles are still expected to come?
- In total, Sony has sold 10.1 million PS5 consoles
- In the current financial year, which began on April 1, 2021, 2.3 million PlayStation 5 consoles have been sold
- For the current financial year, a total of 14.8 million consoles are expected to be sold
This means: In the 9 months from July 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, an additional 12.5 million PS5 consoles are expected to hit the market to meet Sony’s sales targets. And the materials to produce these PS5 consoles have already been secured by Sony or are at least ensured.
