A user sent their PS4 Pro for repair. They not only receive their console back. The special thing about it: This is not the first time, as some users report. Because Sony seems to be increasingly gifting players who send their PS4 for repair. We present to you how this is received by users.
What happened? The user metsfanatic525 published a post on reddit. He explains that he sent his PS4 Pro to Sony to have it repaired.
Now he has received his repaired console back – additionally, there was a letter from Sony and a PS4 game as a gift included:
Thank you for your continued support of PlayStation, its products, and services during these unpredictable and challenging times. As a token of our gratitude for your loyalty, we included MLB: The Show 20. We continue to do our best to provide the best support in the future.

In a further post, metsfanatic525 explained that his console was still under warranty. So he didn’t have to pay anything for the repair: “Mine was under warranty, so it was free.”

What does the user do with the game? In a post, the user explains that he unfortunately already owns the game. But he also reveals what he wants to do with the game: “I actually already have it, but I thought it was just a nice gesture, I’ll give the copy to my brother for fun.”
Sony gifts players not for the first time
How often has this happened? We previously reported on a user who sent their PS4 for repair and was also gifted.
And the user CynicalRaps even has an explanation for this gesture:
They gave it [the gift] to everyone who sent their system for repair. I don’t know what qualified one for that, but a friend in real life did the same and also received a copy…

PS4 user receives a game as a gift from Sony – here are the reactions
Most users greatly appreciate the generosity, but some have their issues with a free game:
- As desertcombat06 writes: “The Show is one of my favorite sports games. I know it’s not a title with heavy punches (ha), but still a big gesture with a fun game.”
- The user LynxMachine adds: “Judging by the fact that the letter refers to the pandemic, I suspect Sony is being nice to everyone.”
- The user HolyCulture1983 experienced something similar, but isn’t quite as enthusiastic about the gesture. He writes: “I sent my PS4 here in Korea for repair, and as a similar gesture, a soccer game was installed on my device. The problem is that I’m somehow worried about my trophy average, and I hate sports games. And they started the game once to make sure it works… I was unnecessarily stressed and annoyed by their kind gesture until I saw that I could delete the trophy list with 0% completion.”
