While Sony continues to rely heavily on exclusive titles, Microsoft is also bringing its games to the PS5 – and with success. Currently, an Xbox racing game dominates the console, even though Sony could compete here itself.
What game is this? This refers to Forza Horizon 5. The racing game from Playground Games was originally released on November 9, 2021, on PC (Microsoft Store and Steam), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. It is also included in Game Pass.

How is Forza received on the console? The game competes theoretically with Gran Turismo 7, which was released in 2022 on PS5. Sony’s racing game series is exclusively hosted on PlayStation. However, this circumstance does not seem to have hindered the success of Forza.
As reported by the PlayStation.Blog, the game was among the most downloaded games on PS5 last April. In the USA and Canada, it reached number 3, and in Europe, it even reached number 1.
What makes Forza Horizon 5 so good? The game offers an open world that is heavily influenced by the landscapes of Mexico. With changing seasons, the game world also changes dynamically. Weather events like sandstorms or tropical storms add an extra thrill to driving.
Since its release, the game has significantly improved, benefiting players on PS5 as well. GamePro increased the game’s score from 89 to 90 points in their follow-up review. Over 450 vehicles have been added since, along with several tracks from the Forza Realms that have been very well received.
The strongest PS5 games in April 2025 came from the competition. In addition to Forza, the remaster of Oblivion and Minecraft also made it into the top 3 – all games from Xbox.
Microsoft’s strategy of making every platform capable of being an Xbox seems to be paying off. Only Sony still doesn’t want to give up its exclusive titles.
