Recently, Sony announced that it will now support crossplay. The first title to do so soon will be Fortnite. What about Fallout 76? Here’s what Bethesda says.
This was the news of the last few days. Sony gives in on the crossplay dispute. In the future, several titles are expected to support crossplay, Fortnite starts with a beta.
Now fans are wondering if Fallout 76 will also offer a crossplay feature for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Bethesda did not take long to respond.

Sony allows Crossplay – Does this affect Fallout 76?
Pete Hines, Vice President of Bethesda and responsible for marketing, has commented positively on Sony’s decision via Twitter. However, it seems that nothing is changing for Fallout 76.
This is what Hines says about crossplay in Fallout 76: He is working with many developers for whom crossplay will be important in the future.
However, this will have no impact on the development of Fallout 76, at least not in the B.E.T.A or at launch. Whether crossplay could play a role later, he left open.
Upon probing by fans, he emphasized again that the release of Fallout 76 is only seven weeks away and that it is simply not feasible to integrate crossplay in such a short time.

Crossplay for Fallout 76 not a new topic
In the past, there have been increased discussions about crossplay and Sony’s refusal to enable it. Bethesda was one of the larger publishers who openly criticized Sony for this.
What was the situation with Fallout 76? Leading employees of Bethesda have commented on this in the past. Todd Howard, head of Bethesda Game Studios, held Sony partially responsible for there being no crossplay in Fallout 76.
Pete Hines, on the other hand, emphasized that crossplay was never planned for Fallout 76.

This is how the community reacts:
- Many fans understand. You cannot implement crossplay into a game overnight. Bethesda should focus on finishing Fallout 76 instead.
- The hope remains for many. After all, this is not a definitive no; crossplay could still be an issue later.
- Some fans are confused and expressed their disappointment on Twitter. Is Bethesda now planning crossplay for Fallout 76, or not? They feel deceived.
