In Destiny 2, each class has Ultimates, known as Ultis, that allow them to unleash their true power when fully charged with energy. Some of these Ultis are from Destiny 1, but unfortunately, they are unpopular due to being too weak. However, this is set to change with an upcoming update.
What has Bungie revealed? Bungie had a livestream planned on the evening of November 12, where they discussed Act 2 of Episode: Revenants. They talked about a new activity, weapons, and collaborations. During the conversation with the developers, however, there was an announcement that could potentially change the meta, which is the adjustment of “Roaming Supers.”
These are Ultis that do not end after activation but instead put the Guardians in a state where they can cause chaos and destruction over a longer period. This includes, for example, the Storm Trance of the Warlock, the Chaos Fists of the Titan, or the Spectral Blades of the Hunter.
Many of them are used far too little and only situationally. Bungie aims to change this with a generous adjustment.
The same damage, but more frequently usable
How does Bungie want to solve the problem? For those hoping for higher damage, we must disappoint you. Bungie is taking a different approach. Instead, the regeneration rate of Super energy will be increased threefold. So you will be able to use the Ulti much more often and won’t have to save them for special phases.
This could especially increase the usage rate and ensure that fans choose such Ultis more often. Especially in scenarios where countless adds spawn that need to be taken down.
However, it is unclear whether these Ultis will receive further changes. The higher regeneration could help their popularity, but that alone is not enough. Especially the reduction of damage would need to be adjusted if Bungie wants to see its Guardians use these Ultis more often.
If Bungie does not do this, many fans may refrain from using the Roaming Ultis simply due to the high number of Guardian deaths.
When is the update coming? Bungie has scheduled the balance update for the upcoming Tuesday, November 19, 2024, when Act 2 of Episode: Revenants is set to launch.
