A very expensive pack caused quite a stir in EA FC 25. EA made errors in the translation of the content. Some players are now benefiting from this blunder, as they have ruthlessly exploited the situation.
During the Black Friday weekend (November 29 to December 1), a special pack was available in the shop for the first time. For 425,000 coins or 3,000 FC Points, equivalent to about 27 euros, players could secure the “Legendary Breakthrough Pack” in Ultimate Team.
According to the German translation, this pack contains the following untradeable items:
- 1 base icon with up to 91 OVR (overall rating, editor’s note)
- 20 rare gold players with at least 82 OVR
How could an error happen? Unlike the correct German translation, a small but crucial error crept into the Spanish description of the content.
Instead of stating the maximum overall rating of the icon of up to 91, the Spanish version incorrectly stated that players should receive a legend with a minimum overall rating of 91, which falsely significantly increased the attractiveness of the pack.
Error is exploited, suddenly everyone is Spanish
How could the error be exploited? The error quickly spread, well beyond the Spanish-speaking community, prompting many international experts to post about FC 25 on their social media accounts and inform the rest of the world.
Simultaneously, they alerted their followers that it might be worth exploiting this error by changing the language in the game or in the web/FC 25 Companion App to Spanish before purchasing the pack. Because in the past, EA compensated for such translation errors with compensation packs that were supposed to deliver the incorrectly translated content.
In the case of the Spanish translation for the “Legendary Breakthrough Pack”, this meant that all “Spanish-speaking” players who would have been “disadvantaged” by the error would still receive their pack with an icon with a minimum rating of 91.
As it turned out, some users followed the experts’ calls. With success.
Wrong Spaniards are now actually being rewarded
On Monday, December 9, 2024, a number of players, including those from the German-speaking area, were indeed provided with such compensation packs as reimbursement. In these packs, the chance of pulling a player worth over the originally required 425,000 coins is relatively high, considering the number of expensive and less expensive cards.
In addition to some not-so-expensive icons like Angerer, van Basten, Baresi, or Prinz, who all cost around 100,000 coins, there are 20 icons in the player pool worth between over 500,000 coins and several million.
In the highlight video by streamer and content creator Tim “Latka” Schwartmann, the Brazilian icons particularly brought significant profits:
Of the 15 opened icon packs, 6 of his viewers pulled cards worth over a million coins. One viewer even pulled the most expensive player, the Brazilian Ronaldo, with a value of around 13 million coins.
The most frequently pulled player was the Italian center-back Baresi with 3 pulls. This proves that the packs, despite increased chances, did not guarantee a million-player.
What do the viewers say? Under the video, a large part of the community received the compensation packs with little enthusiasm.

We would not recommend taking advantage of such bugs or errors, as you might face consequences from EA in the worst case. Moreover, it seems not all players actually received their compensation.
