Fortnite: Battle Royale is now 3 years old. During this time, players have experienced 14 seasons. But how is the current Season 4 received by the community? Opinions are divided.
What is happening in Fortnite right now? Season 4 is currently running in Fortnite and brought some superheroes from the Marvel universe who are now battling together with Fortnite characters. Their special abilities, as well as real superheroes as NPC bosses, have also been introduced on the map.
Another highlight is Fortnite: Battle Royale’s 3rd birthday, which took place on September 26. Through challenges, players can unlock various birthday items.
But what is the overall sentiment towards the current season in the community?
What do players think about Season 4?
This is the sentiment in the community: Every new season brings some changes to the game. Naturally, there are diverse opinions on this. The sentiment in the community regarding Season 4 is also divided. While some are simply having fun, others want to step away from the game.
There doesn’t always have to be the same reason why players love a season or why they simply don’t enjoy it. This is also the case in Season 4. Various factors are influencing this.
In a reddit thread, players discussed the state of Fortnite in Season 4. The player Subscribe_To_Lag135, who started the conversation, stated that Fortnite is getting better and he really enjoys the current season.
Several players clearly agree with him and write:
- “This is really the best season Epic has ever made regarding content.”
- “This may sound strange, but I have really enjoyed this season so far by just grinding. Short challenges and the stamping cards are the best thing Epic has ever introduced. It just gives you a task that you can accomplish and doesn’t require you to focus on serious gameplay.”
- “I’m enjoying this season quite a bit so far. The only adjustment I would make is the removal of the mythic items.”
With the positive opinion towards Season 4, players are not alone, as Twitch streamer Ninja is also fully back in this season. It seems Fortnite is fun for him again after “not having anything positive to say about the last two seasons.”

The Twitch streamer already visited Fortnite back in July, but streamed all of it on YouTube and not on Twitch.
However, there are not only positive opinions regarding the current season. Under the reddit thread and on Twitter, some report that they are not satisfied at all. The reasons for this are various. Some are even considering quitting Fortnite altogether. Some players under the reddit thread say:
- “I’m afraid I have to disagree with you. I have been playing since Chapter 1 Season 2 and I’m finally considering quitting the game altogether. It’s just not what it used to be and Epic doesn’t seem to want to listen to us.”
- “I’m really disappointed that they mixed the story with Marvel. I hope it goes back to the original story after Season 4.”
- “I don’t know how it is in Battle Royale, but Team Rumble has gotten a lot worse. To the point where I stopped playing.”
A major point of criticism seems to be the skill-based matchmaking that was introduced in Chapter 2 of Fortnite. This was supposed to ensure equally strong opponents, but it seems to achieve the exact opposite. Players have complained about this numerous times:
We will likely see how Fortnite evolves in Season 4. After all, it will accompany us for a while and new updates may bring changes that impact the entire gameplay. Opinions can change quickly in this regard.
But we shouldn’t forget the iOS players, as they cannot even play Season 4. After a dispute between Apple and Epic, Fortnite was removed from the app store, and all iOS players were left behind in Season 3 because they can no longer update their game. Epic even warned players not to update to the new iOS update 14.00, as that could completely delete Fortnite from their device.
