Opening certain doors can puzzle some players in Starfield, but the first “weapon” you receive in the game is the solution.
Which doors are we talking about? In Starfield, there are red emergency exit doors (Emergency Cuttable Wall) in some places. They do not have a handle or an automated switch to open them.
If you have ever stood in front of such a door in Bethesda’s latest RPG, you might have wondered how to open the damn thing. You might think there is no clue, but the solution to the puzzle is right on the door.
How can you open the doors? With the “Cutter.” The Cutter is the first “weapon” you receive in Starfield.
Shoot the laser simply at the four yellow pins in the corners of the door. Additionally, you will find a clue on the door indicating where exactly you need to cut: an arrow and the words “Cut Pins” show you the spots.
We will include a clip that shows you how to use the cutter here:
During the introductory mission, you are shown that you can use the cutter’s laser to harvest resources. Although the door is not a resource, if something can cut through various metals, it can open a door as well.
For some doors, simply pulling out your cutter is not enough. Occasionally, you need to pick locks the old-fashioned way with the Digidietrich. However, for particularly stubborn locks, you need a skill called “Security” and you must upgrade it during the course of the game.
