A strange NPC with a bunch of little kittens has appeared in a dungeon in World of Warcraft some time ago. Players wondered what the cat lady could be about. Now it’s clear: You need her for a mount.
This was the status: In August 2018, a new NPC appeared in the Legion dungeon Court of Stars, which players do not have to fight. The Nightborne Lady Chaton is a friendly NPC you can talk to.
Back then, Lady Chaton raised several questions. Players pondered for a long time what the elf could be about and suspected there was a puzzle behind it. They were right, at least in part.
Lady Chaton’s Kittens: Part of the Hive Mind
Who is Lady Chaton? The Nightborne Lady Chaton, whose name translates from French as “kitten”, is an NPC in the Court of Stars. She lives in a house near the second boss, Talixae Flamewreath.
She is surrounded by five little kittens:
- Mauntz
- Graupelz
- Bella
- Schatten
- Frau Flauschibausch
The kittens can be petted. Every time you pet them, they receive a stack of the “Pet” buff.
Since her appearance, Lady Chaton has been causing headaches in the community. Particularly, the “secrets discord” of the WoW community has repeatedly used her for investigation.
This is what the kittens are for: Lady Chaton, or more specifically her kittens, are part of a new puzzle in World of Warcraft. The buff they receive when petted is used to enter a code.
Players need this code to get an item for the scavenger hunt for the new mount “Hive Mind”. The Hive Mind is a mount that looks like a flying brain.
Originally the brain was just a placeholder. However, the developers decided to introduce the mount.
Similar to other puzzle mounts, the Hive Mind requires a long series of hidden tasks to be completed in a group. Recently, it’s been revealed what you all need to do.
