The stats of the new Pokémon Meltan and Melmetal have been leaked. This allows us to say how strong the two will be in Pokémon GO.
Meltan and Melmetal are the two new Pokémon that Nintendo will release in “Let´s GO, Pikachu” and “Let´s GO, Evoli”. The stats that the two will achieve in Let’s GO have been leaked. This means we can now calculate what combat stats the two will have in Pokémon GO.
We will tell you how strong the two new Pokémon will be and how you can most likely get them.
Melmetal will be a strong Steel attacker
How do you get the stats? On Twitter, the user “PDWinnall” published an image of the stats of the two Pokémon that they will have in the Let’s GO games. From this, one can also calculate how strong Meltan and Melmetal will be in Pokémon GO using a simple formula.
Meltan
- Max CP: 1068
Melmetal
- Max CP: 3573
- Attack: 226
- Defense: 190
- HP: 260
Melmetal will be nerfed: Like every other Pokémon that can exceed 4000 CP, Melmetal will likely be nerfed. This means that 9% will be deducted from each stat. Without this nerf, Melmetal would have a max CP of 4265.
This is how strong Melmetal is in comparison
Melmetal is a Steel type. Therefore, we compare it with other Steel Pokémon.
Metagross is better: The current best Steel attacker, Metagross, remains at the top. It achieves more CP than Melmetal and has a significantly higher attack value of 257. Especially the Meteor Mash makes Metagross significantly stronger.
Weak attack value: The attack value of Melmetal is significantly weaker than that of other Steel Pokémon. It is still below the attack value of Magneton and only slightly above that of Stoutland. Therefore, Melmetal will not be an option for attacking.
Move Iron Fists: Possibly, the move Iron Fists could enhance Melmetal. This move can only be learned exclusively by Melmetal. So far, it is unknown how strong this move will be, and thus no conclusions can be drawn about its effects on Melmetal.
Possibly as a defender: Melmetal has the highest HP stat of all Steel Pokémon and would therefore be ideal as a defender. However, it is classified as a mythical Pokémon. This includes Pokémon like Mew or Celebi. These cannot be used in gyms. It remains to be seen whether Melmetal cannot be used in gyms as well.
This is how you get Meltan and Melmetal
The Let´s GO games will be released on November 16. It is not confirmed, but the community suspects that Meltan and Melmetal will also appear on that day.
Through special research: As Nintendo has already announced, Meltan will be obtainable through special research in Pokémon GO. This will likely be comparable to the special research of Mew and Celebi.
Melmetal through evolution: Meltan needs 400 candies to evolve into Melmetal. This is also the case for the evolution of Magikarp into Gyarados.
More Meltan through Let´s GO games: Meltan can probably only be caught through a Mystery Box. This is obtained once upon completion of the special research or during each trade of Pokémon between Pokémon GO and the Let´s GO games. So, if you want to catch more Meltan, you will need to get a Nintendo Switch and trade Pokémon.
