The joy of the professional players in World of Warcraft is always nice to see. But their frustration can also be extremely entertaining.
The race for the “World First Kill” of Sylvanas Windrunner in the Sanctum of Domination is in full swing and approaching the finish line. After all, some guilds have now reached Sylvanas and are trying to defeat the Banshee Queen.
The professional guild Echo thought for a moment they had secured the kill – only to be severely disappointed in the next moment. Because the fight doesn’t end where everyone expected it to.
What’s going on? In heroic mode, the fight against Sylvanas Windrunner ends at 50% health points. The players therefore assumed that this would also be the case in mythic mode. After all, the fight had already lasted over 10 minutes by that point, making it quite long.
With great effort, Echo managed to bring Sylvanas close to the (supposedly) magical threshold of 50%. They finally reached 49.7% health points when the raid was wiped.
This is what happens after 50%: For a brief moment, joy arises – but then comes the bitter realization that the fight isn’t over yet. The “complaining” is significant and almost as amusing to hear and see as the nerds screaming after a successful first kill. But see for yourself:
The frustration and disbelief that the fight is still ongoing are clearly audible. Some even ask if this is a bug – when it seems to just be the value that Blizzard has set for the mythic mode.
Will Sylvanas fall this week? That is questionable. The missing 5% of her health points is a lot of damage that Echo and other guilds still need to extract. It may well be that this is simply not possible yet and will only be the case next week – as then there will be more gear available, whether through raiding again or the weekly reward boxes. This could give the raids the necessary boost to defeat Sylvanas.
However, we might still experience the exciting fall of Echo – or another guild – bringing Sylvanas down to 45% before the end of the week. That would likely guarantee the first kill.
