The popular Fortnite streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has said goodbye to Twitch and is now with the competition. But Twitch has a great idea on how to handle his old channel.
Ninja is now with Microsoft: On August 1, Ninja announced that he will no longer present his livestreams on Twitch.TV, but is now switching to “Mixer.” That’s Microsoft’s livestreaming platform. He has signed an exclusive deal for it.
This is not only a big change for his viewers and Mixer. Twitch.TV also has to say goodbye to a star, as Ninja’s channel has 14 million followers and is therefore the most followed. A significant loss for Twitch. But something has happened on Ninja’s Twitch channel.
This is how Twitch reacts to Ninja’s departure: Ninja’s former Twitch channel has received a design makeover. It now serves as an advertisement for other Fortnite streams. Anyone who visits his Twitch link now sees the following greeting:
“The Ninja you are looking for is in another castle. Check out these popular live channels.” With the “another castle,” Twitch references the Mario games.
His streamed broadcasts can still be viewed. The operators of the livestreaming platform cleverly use his channel’s homepage to keep visitors on the site. Instead of saying “Oh, the livestream is no longer available, I’m leaving,” there is now an incentive to stay on Twitch.TV.

Ninja received negative feedback for his action. In his first stream on Mixer, he had to hear “You sold out”.
Is Twitch doing this with every streaming channel? A viewer notes that popular YouTuber and livestreamer “PewDiePie” still has his Twitch channel with subscription feature, even though he signed an exclusive contract with DLIVE. It is suspected that PewDiePie just wasn’t as big a deal for Twitch as Ninja.
With a Fortnite appearance, PewDiePie destroyed Twitch and then left.
