Since the beta of Battlefield 2042 started, several videos of spectacular kills and actions have been circulating. One player stands out, as he achieved a spectacular sniper kill not with a mouse, nor with a controller, but with a flute.
Some players apparently need a new challenge time and again. The player leDeanoBeano has found this in Battlefield 2042.
Instead of playing regularly with mouse/keyboard or controller, he has been using a flute in the beta. He even scored an impressive sniper hit at nearly 500 meters.
Here you can watch the impressive kill in the clip. Ideally with sound:
Headshot with Flute and Recorder – “What just happened?!”
What do other players say about it? In the reddit post, players react impressed. Even community manager TOTALfps can’t help but say “What just happened?!” (via reddit)
- ZpinDex writes: “I am very impressed and at the same time quite confused.”
- Kunibert_der_zweite says: “Seriously? Sometimes it takes me a whole magazine to finally kill something with a sniper and the guy just uses a flute?!”
How exactly does it work? It is a little complicated. In short: Musical instruments, both acoustic and electronic, can be used as human control interfaces for electronic games.
The inputs are extracted from the played tones of the instruments and transferred to the game’s control parameters. This is how the player in the video does it. This is also known from various players who complete the brutally hard action RPG Dark Souls with drums. (via YouTube.com)
Instead of a standard input device, leDeanoBeano uses a recorder and a flute. And ultimately goes on a sniper tour with it. In the video, you can see and hear how his sniper rifle reacts to the played tones.
This raises the difficulty level of aiming, shooting, and targeting to another level and looks cool. Many people seem to have problems with sniping in Battlefield 2042, making this kill even more impressive.
How long will the beta last? You have until tomorrow, October 10th at 9 AM to play the open beta. After that, the servers will go offline again and it is currently unknown if there will be another beta before release.
The official release is on November 19th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
