Smoke Day in Pokémon GO with Wooloo – How to take advantage of it

In Pokémon GO the Smoke Day with Voltali starts this Sunday, January 24. We provide you with an overview of how to make the most of this event.

This is the Smoke Day: This event is about the item Smoke. For 6 hours, the smoke will only attract special Pokémon. It is an event designed specifically for home play, as you can comfortably play from your sofa.

This time, everything revolves around Voltali, Dragon, and Electric Pokémon. You will encounter Pokémon of these types for 6 hours and have good chances of finding Shinys.

Smoke Day with Voltali – Start Time and Bonuses

These are the times: This time, the hourly distribution is a bit more complicated. They switch hourly or every 2 hours. Voltali will appear for the entire 6 hours.

The times are divided as follows:

• 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM: Electric Pokémon will be attracted by the smoke
• 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM: Dragon Pokémon and monsters that evolve into Dragons will be attracted by the smoke
• 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM: Electric Pokémon will be attracted by the smoke
• 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM: Dragon Pokémon and monsters that evolve into Dragons will be attracted by the smoke

These are the Electric Pokémon: As Electric Pokémon, monsters from various generations will appear. These include Pikachu, Magnetilo, Voltobal, Lampe, Voltali, Plusle, Minun, and Flunschlik.

These are the Dragon Pokémon: This particularly refers to Pokémon that are not of the Dragon type themselves but can evolve into Dragon Pokémon. Nevertheless, there should also be some Dragons present. Examples mentioned by Niantic include Seep, Dratini, Voltali, Knacklion, Vibrava, Wablu, and Kindwurm.

No major surprises are expected. However, it cannot be ruled out that Kaumalat may also appear in the smoke. We will know more at the start of the event.

This exclusive move is available: If you evolve an Ampharos during the Smoke Day, it will learn the move Dragon Pulse. This move becomes interesting if you evolve a Mega Ampharos. This Pokémon is of the Dragon and Electric types. However, if you are not interested in Mega Evolutions, the move will not be particularly interesting for you.

How to make the most of the event

These bonuses you can grab here: During the current Hoenn event, there is a new collector challenge. You are supposed to catch, among others, Kindwurm, Plusle, and Minun. These Pokémon are a bit trickier to find. However, during the Smoke Day, you will have the best chances to catch these 3 Pokémon, which could help you complete the challenge. This is what you should do: For the Smoke Day, you can get 3 smokes for just one PokéCoin. For half of the event, you won’t have to spend any purchased smoke. So you should definitely make use of at least the 3 smoke – they are, after all, free.

If you have the full 6 hours available, you should also keep the smoke going throughout. The spawns are quite interesting, and you can make good use of them with the smoke.

Which hour is especially worthwhile? You will encounter stronger Pokémon during the Dragon hours. So if you only want to play for an hour, you should play at 1:00 PM or 4:00 PM.

How about Shinys? In the past, the event Pokémon from the Smoke Day have also been more frequently available as Shinys. One can expect the same from Voltali. Anyone who did not participate in the Community Day 2018 should secure the Shiny.

Keep in mind that the increased Shiny chance is not officially confirmed. It is based on information from past Smoke Days.

How to properly prepare: You can comfortably play the Smoke Day from your sofa, but you need enough balls. So collect balls beforehand so that you won’t run out during the event. 60 Pokémon will appear per hour due to the smoke. We recommend at least 60 balls per hour – ideally more, as a Pokémon is not always caught on the first ball.
