In the action MOBA SMITE, there’s a new god to marvel at. This time it is none other than Achilles.
Achilles is a hero of the Greeks in the Trojan War, known in Greek mythology, and was considered nearly invulnerable. This is because he was dipped as a child in the underworld river Styx, which changed his body. Only a small spot on his heel was not touched by the Styx – the famous Achilles heel.
In SMITE, Achilles is a warrior and specializes in dealing physical damage, leaning more towards the offensive warriors.
Overview of Achilles’ Abilities
Let’s take a quick look at Achilles’ abilities:
- His passive ability Gift of the Gods allows Achilles to choose whether he wants armor or not. If he chooses armor, he gains additional health and protection. Without armor, he receives increased movement speed and physical power. Both effects scale with level.
- With Aegis of Achilles, the god strikes in a cone in front of him. Enemies in the direct hit area take high damage and are stunned. Distant enemies take reduced damage.
- Achilles’ self-buff is Glory and Splendor, which grants him Physical Power, Protection, and CC reduction for 6 seconds. Additionally, Achilles is healed when he hits enemies with his abilities during this time (and inflicts damage).
- His movement ability is Dodge. Achilles makes a quick dodging step in the direction of his movement and then strikes. If he hits an enemy with this, he can use Dodge a second time before the ability goes on cooldown.
- Achilles’ Ultimate is Death Strike. For a brief moment, Achilles gathers his power and then charges forward to deal high damage to an enemy. If the enemy god has less than 30% health, they are instantly executed. If Achilles kills an enemy this way, he can use the ability again. This is possible up to 5 times in a row. However, with each execution, Achilles becomes more reckless and leaves his heel unprotected, causing him to take 30% additional damage. This can also be stacked 5 times.
Achilles is sure to breathe new life into SMITE and requires a cool head to make the most of Death Strike – otherwise he only exposes himself.
