In a few days, a new Smite patch will be coming to the players, and this includes not only the new god “Ah Puch” but also some of the most remarkable skins ever created for the F2P MOBA.
Ah Puch – the Mayan Lord of the Underworld
With “Ah Puch”, Smite finally gets its first true Necromancer. As the Lord of the 9th Circle of Hell and thus the God of the Dead, the masked god will lead his corpses into battle and instill fear in the hearts of his enemies – and he has many enemies. Everything that lives, to be precise. Especially healers will find their lives to be a (9th) hell!
- His passive ability “Hollow Ground” allows him to walk over corpses while restoring some of his health and mana.
- “Undead Surge” hurls two corpses forward, which explode on contact, or when the ability is activated again. The corpses remain on the ground afterwards.
- “Corpse Explosion” is exactly what it sounds like: Damage is dealt in a target area, and if there are any corpses there, they explode for additional damage.
- “Fleeting Breath” deals damage over time in a target area. At the end of 5 seconds, all targets are stunned for 1 second. If the targets are healed during the DoT duration, the stun increases by 0.5 seconds per heal.
- The ultimate “Empty the Crypts” unleashes the armies of the 9th Circle of Hell and covers a vast area where spirits wander about wildly. Each spirit deals damage on contact with an enemy and slows them down.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Ah Puch develops as the developers hoped. Just from reading his abilities, he seems to be the perfect counter for healers who can heal multiple times in quick succession, like Sylvanus.
New Skins: Kawaii Pop, Void Wyrm, Executioner and many more!
Especially Bastet fans can look forward to a flashy skin: Kawaii Pop Bastet! This skin caters to absolutely all clichés and prejudices that one might have developed about Japanese culture. From endless anime references in the voice pack to the kitschy colorful design, any Japan fan will have their heart opened – and just as many people will surely hate it. But what am I saying: The world needs more cat girls!
- “Void Wyrm”-Kukulkan resembles a Zerg from StarCraft more than just a little. The parallels to the “Mutalisks” are quite obvious, which shouldn’t diminish the skin at all. Who wouldn’t prefer to battle in the god battlefield for the Queen of Blades?
- “Executioner”-Nemesis lays down her work as a simple goddess of revenge and now takes care of decapitating her enemy players as an executioner.
- Last but not least, Serqet is to receive a Tier-2 skin that only slightly expands her standard attire. She looks significantly more imposing with it!
Balancing: Ao Kuang, Neith, Kumbhakarna and Sun Wukong are happy
Since the beginning of Season 2, Ao Kuang has been rather difficult to play, so he is receiving some improvements:
- The “Watery Illusion” now automatically explodes after the timer runs out,
- “Dragon Call” can be used without revealing his stealth and
- The ultimate “King of the Eastern Sea” now works at all ranks at 30% of the enemy’s HP and heals Ao Kuang for an additional fixed amount.
- Neith’s “Spirit Arrow” now deals a little more damage and scales with 90% of physical power (previously 80%).
- Kumbhakarna’s sleepy god “Mighty Yawn” now reduces the enemy’s attack speed when they wake up early, which should make him a significantly better tank.

Also, “Sun Wukong” will receive improvements to his abilities:
- “The Magic Cudgel” now deals 25% more damage to minions (previously 20%),
- “Master’s Will” now deals an additional 10 damage, and
- “72 Transformations” stuns for 0.4 seconds longer in tiger form at all ranks.
In conclusion, several items have been adjusted to ensure that there is more than just one viable option for all gods. Casters should also take a look at the new starter item “Soulstone,” which could turn the tide, especially in the first few minutes of a match.
