In Diablo 4 you can gain advantages with elixirs, provided you do not die in combat while trying to consume one. We show you a small trick on how to safely consume elixirs in heated situations.
What is the problem with the elixirs? In Diablo 4, there is a wide range of potions that heroes can brew and consume to gain bonuses. These “elixirs” also provide an additional 5% more experience points for 30 minutes.
The problem, however, is that consuming such potions is cumbersome, takes many seconds, and leaves you motionless before you can break free from the menu. Moreover, it is easy to forget to regularly drink the elixirs.
In the worst case, you may die while trying to consume a potion because the enemies are chasing you and will tear you apart. But there is an easy way out of this misery: it’s your emote wheel.

How does the trick work? You can store any potion in your emote wheel to use selected elixirs with just 2 clicks. Here’s how:
- Open the emote wheel
- On PC with “E” and on console with the D-pad up
- Now you can select the option “Customize”
- Now a new window opens with various tabs – here you select “Consumables”
- A list of all possible potions opens, now select a potion
- Now you can assign this to one of the three available emote slots
After the process, you have customized your emote wheel and can consume a potion of your choice faster. Now you just need to remember to take the elixirs as well.
What advantages do potions provide? Each potion offers its own advantages. Whether you want more armor or increased attributes, the potions assist you with that.
Nevertheless, many heroes consume elixirs to benefit from the 5% XP buff, as every elixir that can be crafted or found provides this buff.
