A small interface addon makes life easier in World of Warcraft. Fans love it – it is simple yet brilliant.
Unlike many other MMORPGs, in World of Warcraft, you can customize the interface quite generously. For almost two decades, a large addon culture has developed that allows you to customize the user interface or add meaningful features.
What kind of addon is it? The addon is called “I remember you”. The function is relatively simple but very useful. For every character you encounter in the game, you can right-click on their portrait to create a small note to remind you of that person.
You can adjust or delete the notes later. The notes apply across realms, so you can also create notes for players who are not on the same realm as you.
Why is this useful? In World of Warcraft, you constantly meet other players. However, the friends list is limited, and just because you might have a pleasant encounter, you don’t necessarily want to add someone directly to your friends list. This makes it difficult to remember every character after hundreds or thousands of encounters.
With “I remember you,” you can create a small note for every character you encounter in the game world with just two clicks. The next time you come across that character, the appropriate note will briefly appear on your screen. A few examples would be:
- “Was a good tank in M+”
- “Pleasant RP in the tavern”
- “Answered my questions about fire mages”
- “Fished together and talked about series”
- “Made me potions for little gold”
Of course, you can also use the addon for “negative notes” – for example, if a player was rude to you, abandoned you in a dungeon, or tossed away the nice transmog dress just to disenchant it right in front of your eyes.
In general, it is recommended to use it for positive notes. It’s simply a pleasant feeling to stroll through World of Warcraft and be reminded now and then when you encounter someone with whom you have already had a nice interaction.
How can you install the addon? “I remember you” can be downloaded and updated regularly through the program “CurseForge,” just like most other addons. If you prefer to install addons manually, you can also download it directly from the Curseforge website.

Although many probably use the addon primarily for negative notes to remember disappointing teammates from “Mythic+” dungeons, the interface extension is celebrated. Addons are often viewed critically
Although addons – like the one presented here – are very popular, there is also criticism of other addons. Especially powerful tools, such as “WeakAuras” or boss mods, are frequently discussed to see if they trivialize the game in some cases. Occasionally, Blizzard has had to intervene and change mechanics in the game because addons could completely counter them. Recently, developers even delayed parts of the combat log to combat external programs that could provide precise position information for all participants in a fight in real-time.
Smaller addons, like “I Remember You,” which basically only take on the function of a “sticky note,” are widely accepted.
