The MMORPG Skyforge relies on a rather complicated progression system, not all players find it easy to understand.
As Skyforge indicates, players are hitting the weekly limit for “sparks.” They are needed to unlock new nodes in the progression atlas. Players then feel: That’s it for this week, I can’t achieve anything more.
This is contradicted by Skyforge, which points to the “Temple” system and that there are also resources for that which players can earn. Because even in the Temple system (which resembles the Garrison from WoW), with strength, the “Prestige” rises, the substitute level in Skyforge: The character becomes stronger.
In a blog post, it explains how to deal with the Temple and how to strengthen your character, even when the spark limit is reached. There are three types of missions in the Temple:
- Combat missions (red) give EXP to develop the followers
- Order development (blue) increases the level of the order
- Resource gathering (orange) is necessary to obtain resources to send players on the missions
Thus, missions that do not only provide sparks but also offer Temple resources such as rings, tablets, holy texts, or gold coins are also worthwhile. The player can earn resources in adventures, which in turn can feed their temple. And unlike sparks, these temple resources are not subject to any limit.
The alternative is to wait until Wednesday morning: Then the limit for the sparks is reset, and players can wreak havoc in the progression atlas again.
Mein MMO says: The Temple system is indeed somewhat hidden and difficult to understand. The individual followers differ from each other in various classes, quality levels, levels, and then two attributes again. The “mini-game” probably won’t appeal to an audience that thirsts for monster-slaying in short bursts. It seems that this has been underused in Skyforge so far, and the blog post could be an initial attempt to make it appealing to players.
