In the god MMO Skyforge , the Adept system has now been introduced in more detail. It resembles Asian browser games and is quite complex.
Mini-games where the player commands a host of employees and servants are the new trend in MMOs. In Rift, you have minions, in Star Trek Online, your crew, and World of Warcraft itself will soon have followers as well. The action MMO Skyforge also joins the trend: We introduced the basics a while ago.
Now the publisher my.com is being more explicit and going into detail. The Adept system seems to become remarkably complex and resembles browser games from the Asian region. The “Adept”, who are notable subordinates, can practice one of eight professions:
o Engineer – a technical genius
o Templar – a guardian of good
o Wizard – a keeper of ancient rituals, ancient runes and traditions
o Mystic – a master of all magical things
o Preacher – a preacher of their own order
o Healer – a competent doctor
o Envoy – a diplomatic envoy
o Agent – an investigator for paranormal activities
The Adepts also differ by their quality level. There are five levels, the lowest is gray (able), and the highest is orange (legendary). Additionally, the player can “enlighten” an Adept, resetting them to basic level 1, while significantly increasing their base values. Adepts can learn from one another and even be sent out as missionaries to recruit other Adepts.
Overall, it sounds like an astonishingly complex system. It will be interesting to see what role the Adepts will ultimately play in the finished Skyforge. As the game seems to focus more on speed, quick combos, and impressive graphics, a complex mini-game is an interesting ingredient in the mix. The gameplay principles with different rank levels for companions, a “Rebirth” system, and other features resemble browser games like the one distributed by Jagex, “War of Legends”.
Skyforge will be a Free2Play MMO. It is likely that some cash shop items will be used in the Adept system. Especially concerning the quality levels and the “enlightenment system”, this seems to be the case. Officially, however, nothing has yet been hinted at or announced in this direction.
One expects the start of the closed beta in Skyforge every week now, which they want to start this year, and known there is not much time left.
