On reddit and Twitter, a video of a shooter created by a single developer is currently making waves. Many users are impressed by the realistic look of the game.
What kind of game is this? The game, which is currently gaining a lot of attention in social networks, is a shooter. It puts you in the perspective of a bodycam, a camera attached to the body, similar to what is used by the U.S. police.
The shooter is being developed by Alexandre ‘esankiy’ Spindler using Unreal Engine 5, and it impresses the internet with its incredibly realistic appearance.
If you want to take a look at the gameplay of the shooter, we’ll embed the video shared by the developer on reddit here:
Video has already received several million views after one day
How many times has the video been viewed? The video of the bodycam game triggered numerous reactions. It was posted on Twitter on October 12 and had already been viewed 3.5 million times by October 13.
Additionally, it collected 150,000 “likes,” 3,000 comments, and over 18,600 retweets (as of October 13, 2:05 PM). On reddit, it received another 4,100 upvotes and 450 comments.
“I thought I had somehow opened a combat footage video”
What reactions are there to the video? Many commentators on reddit are impressed by the shooter and emphasize how real the game looks:
Some even mentioned that they checked several times which subreddit they were in. Some were unsure if they were still in a gaming area or had accidentally stumbled into an airsoft group or a subreddit for combat footage.
- i_can_hear_the_world: “This looks insanely real, wow.”
- SkaveRat: “Yeah. I thought I had somehow opened a combat footage video”
- WhatIsNameAnyways: “I had to look twice at where I saw this post because the realism made me suspect I was watching a game development video!”
- Firesrest: “This looks incredibly realistic.”
- Gojira_Wins: “Funny enough, I follow the airsoft subreddit, so I had to look twice to make sure it was really a game.”
One reddit user even has an explanation as to why the game feels realistic, although they believe the graphics are not that extraordinary:
- Local_Surround8686: “To be honest, the graphics are not better than, say, ‘even runs’ on PS4. The difference is, it has a perspective from which we normally perceive reality, so our brain gets tricked into thinking it’s reality. Or more precisely, it’s tricked into thinking that games look less real because we are not used to normal game cams in reality.”
Developer wants to make the shooter even more realistic
What does the developer say about the reactions? On Twitter, Spindler thanked for the interest in his game. However, more interesting is his reaction on reddit. Since some users wrote that they had to look twice to realize it was a game, he asked those people a question.
Spindler wanted to know at which moments and details they noticed on the second look that it was a game. He adds that he wants to improve the game at these points (via reddit).
How did users recognize that it was a game? On reddit, some users write that they recognized it was a game by the muzzle flash and the recoil of the weapon.
