In Call of Duty: Warzone 2 there is currently a simple trick that can bring you easy victories in the Gulag. But it also carries some risk.
In Call of Duty: Warzone 2, the Gulag is back, which many players should recognize from the first game. In the prison, players who have died in the shooter’s “Battle Royale” mode fight for a chance to come back. Those who successfully emerge from the fight can rejoin their teammates in the war zone.
Unlike the first Warzone, in Warzone 2 you will not participate in 1v1 battles, but must prove yourselves in a 2v2. This makes returning more complicated, as teamwork with a sometimes random teammate is required. A trick can now simplify your return.
What is this trick? The trick is not a glitch or another unfair action. Instead, you take advantage of your character’s climbing capabilities and the map’s layout to reach a higher position from which you can oversee a large part of the battlefield.
From there, you can catch important information about the positions and movement paths of your opponents, give callouts, and fire at the enemy. You may even score a kill or at least serve as a great distraction.
How does the trick work? At the start of a Gulag round, you need to run a few meters straight ahead and then throw a smoke grenade in front of you onto the ground. This should bounce off the ground and jump over the wooden stacks in front of you. The area around the stacks must then be shrouded in smoke.
Next, climb onto the aforementioned wooden stacks that are located in the center in front of the spawn area and are covered by your smoke. From there, you can then climb right onto a horizontal beam where you can move freely.

On the platter
What risk are you taking? The risk with the trick is that you are sitting on the beam like on a platter. You can see a lot from there, but you can also be seen – especially when the smoke from the smoke grenade dissipates.
If your opponents know the position as well, they may expect you there and shoot you early. Since you have no cover on the beam, you need to be careful to leave the position when it gets too risky.
“It works every time”
What do players say who have tested the trick? The trick has also made it onto TikTok, where player AceNsight writes: “They don’t see you most of the time!” In the comments, he further explains: “In about 15 Gulags or even more that I’ve done this, I was only seen 2 or 3 times.”
The TikTok user Connor Wallace has also tested the trick and reports: “I tried it once and now I do nothing else, it works every time.”
However, there are also players who say they are happy when their opponents climb onto the beam. As soon as the smoke grenade goes off at that spot, they know what’s up and can prepare for their opponent’s attempt.
