As part of the State of Play, new trailers for the remake of Silent Hill 2 were released. Many players are pre-ordering it on the PS5, despite the controversies.
Why are there controversies? In one of the two new trailers for Silent Hill 2, fans were able to catch a first glimpse of the new character model of Angela. This sparked divided opinions within the community.

Fans of the original are particularly criticizing Angela’s new design. Looking at the comments under the trailer (via YouTube), it seems that many players are not happy with the changes made by the development studio Bloober Team. “Angela has been stung by a bee,” writes one user in their comment.
In fact, many express negative opinions about Angela’s face, which they feel is too round in the new design. Another comment agrees with the previous user and compares her head to a cake, but notes that her body is still very thin.
On Reddit, a user claims to have inquired with Bloober, but they would not be changing Angela’s design. Alongside the criticism, there are also players who actually appreciate it. They praise Angela’s new design and find that she now finally looks like the 19-year-old she is supposed to be. In the original, she appeared to be around 25.
Does this change anything about the anticipation? The remake of Silent Hill 2 has been highly anticipated for a long time, especially by fans of the original and horror fans. The new design of Angela doesn’t seem to change that significantly.
The horror game is still ranking 6th in the most purchased pre-orders on the PS5 in the PlayStation Store. Only the new Elden Ring DLC, Destiny 2: The Final Shape, and Testdrive rank higher. The former two are also available in various versions among the pre-orders. Thus, Silent Hill 2 is theoretically in 4th place for most pre-orders.
