The selection of specialists will soon be expanded in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Fans speculate about the return of a fan-favorite from the predecessor.
What was announced? Recently, the developers from Treyarch released a teaser clip on Twitter indicating the return of a popular character from the Black Ops series.
The teaser is only three seconds long and shows a fighter running through dense jungle with a bow. The video is accompanied by the words “On Target,” which roughly translates to “Right on target.”
Although the fighter’s face is not visible, fans agree that it is highly likely to be Outrider – a popular female specialist from Black Ops 3.
What characterized Outrider until now: Outrider was infamous in Black Ops 3 for her special weapon, the Sparrow bow.
This compound bow fires arrows whose range increases with draw tension. Additionally, the arrows explode shortly after impact.
Outrider also possessed the ability “Vision Pulse.” This is a kind of emitted ping that reveals enemies within the radius of the pulse – even through walls and on the minimap.
That’s why many fans are excited about her possible return: Outrider was among the most popular specialists in Black Ops 3. Her arrows could take down enemies with just one shot. Additionally, the pulse simplifies the hunt for enemies and generally provides a good overview of enemy movements.
Many fans were disappointed that Outrider was not present at the launch of Black Ops 4 and loudly demanded her return. Now, their calls are apparently being heard.
What could Outrider be like in Black Ops 4? What exactly Outrider’s abilities will be upon her possible return in Black Ops 4 is currently unknown.
She will obviously retain the bow as her special weapon. However, it is questionable whether she will keep the Vision Pulse, as the specialist Recon already possesses a similar ability. Therefore, there could be changes to this characteristic mechanic.
When will Outrider be introduced? Treyarch did not provide an exact date. However, on February 19 (on PS4), the next season in Black Ops 4, Operation Grand Heist, is set to begin.
Many fans believe that Outrider could be introduced as part of the new seasonal content – similar to how Specialist Zero was introduced during Operation Absolute Zero.
