The development studio Portalarium has launched a new “Free Trial” of the selective multiplayer role-playing game Shroud of the Avatar, which also brings a revised game introduction.
The past free trial phases of the RPG have shown the developers that especially the entry into the game is not going as smoothly as it could, and that many players have difficulty getting into the game. Therefore, the beginning of the adventure has now been revised. Everyone can see what this looks like in the current “Free Trial”, which runs until the end of May. The free trial version can be downloaded by anyone from the official website of the game.
A new entry into the game
The game entry now leads in the new version to the “Solace Bridge Outskirts” after arriving in the game world. There is a military camp where the soldiers have retreated after the attack of an undead army. It is a very large, open area where players can practice their first steps. You will receive some small quests that will introduce you to the game and its features. For example, you are supposed to fish at a lake to provide the soldiers with food. However, you need to unlock the so-called “Utility Hotbar” first, which is the toolbar you use to gather and craft resources.
Additionally, you will need to take on bandits, kill a pack of wolves that are threatening a farm, and also come to an abandoned village where the undead are residing, against which the soldiers are fighting. This starting area then leads into the larger world, where you can either continue to follow the story or carve your own path. The “Solace Bridge Outskirts” represents the first of three newcomers’ areas that will be gradually introduced and which you will reach depending on your chosen path at the beginning.
Release has been postponed
The developers explain that the area is still in an early state and that more quests will be added and optimizations made in certain places. To make the quests throughout the game more exciting, a new employee has been hired who previously worked on the MMORPG Tabula Rasa. He is supposed to fill the game world with many exciting tasks now. This, however, postpones the release date of the RPG, which was originally planned for summer. Currently, the developers expect the launch of Episode 1 of Shroud of the Avatar by the end of the year.
