Fortnite has fixed the screen resolution, which annoyed many professionals, including 19-year-old star player Myth. However, streamer Shroud has now convinced professionals that they should accept this decision.
What are the professionals upset about? In a statement, Epic explained that they will set the screen resolution in Fortnite’s Arena mode and in tournaments. It is set at the normal 16:9 and can no longer be changed by players.
This is the “native resolution” (1920×1080) – many professionals had previously played with a “stretched resolution”: 1440×1080 or 1600×1080, as they expected advantages from it.
For many professionals, this was a change that makes them sweat. They have to get used to it just before qualifying for the Fortnite World Cup 2019 – it’s about a lot of money.
This is how Shroud convinces the professionals: The streamer Shroud is actually more known for Apex Legends than for Fortnite. He has now commented on this change and believes it is the right decision.
For him, “Native” is the only right way to play games.
And Shroud is considered an absolute shooter professional, who has already achieved a lot in eSports and on Twitch – his word apparently carries weight with younger Fortnite streamers.
That’s why Shroud thinks the change in Fortnite is so good
This is what the streamer says: Shroud (24) addresses Fortnite pro “POACH.” (20) with tweets. He expressed his concerns on Twitter about the changes in Fortnite.
Because Poach can hardly imagine now playing in this resolution that he finds so ugly forever.
This is what Shroud says: “This is how it should be played, baby! I’m looking forward to it and that, even though I don’t even play.”
Poach says: “I respect you because you’ve always played native. But I can’t do that; it hurts my eyes.”
Shroud then to POACH: “Your eyes have now gotten used to this ugly resolution. You will get used to it. I’m ready to watch you go in normal resolution!”
What is behind the other resolutions? Many professionals have changed the resolution for their games. As a result, opponents appear much more distorted and blurred, but the hitbox is also larger. This is supposed to make it easier to hit opponents.
Why does Shroud have different views? The trend with other resolutions had already occurred in CS:GO. There Shroud was one of the most successful professionals and did not follow the trend back then either.
He and a few other professionals remained true to the normal resolution. Although his competitors could seemingly hit larger hitboxes with the worse resolution, Shroud regularly won tournaments.

Have his tweets made an impact? The Fortnite pro Myth (19) reacted to Shroud.
Myth wrote: “I don’t know why, but Shroud motivates me extremely to play in normal resolution. My man, is out here preaching some motivating truths.”
What do you think about all this? Do you share Shroud’s opinion that Fortnite is only the right game with the standard screen resolution?
