The Game Awards will once again honor the best games of the past year on December 11, 2025. Twitch streamer shroud is already dissatisfied with the nominations, particularly due to one category.
What is shroud criticizing? In a stream on Twitch, shroud expressed his views on this year’s Game Awards. During this award ceremony, hosted by Geoff Keighley, games are nominated in various categories and then awarded.
Just a few days ago, the nominations for the year 2025 were announced. Particularly noteworthy was the record of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – the game received a whopping 12 nominations, which also sparked criticism. Shroud is primarily dissatisfied with the candidates in the “Game of the Year” category, the main award of the event.
He notably misses the extraction shooter ARC Raiders in the selection of six games and criticizes that the title was overlooked. Nominated alongside Clair Obscur are Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
He vented his frustration about the non-nomination of ARC Raiders on Twitch.
A Controversial Topic
What exactly does the streamer say? Shroud believes he knows the reason why ARC Raiders does not appear in the most important category of the Game Awards. The game has made headlines partly because the developers admitted on Steam that AI was used in its development.
This supposedly supported the development with “procedural and AI-based tools,” but the end result is still the result of the creative work of the team. A message that nowadays invites critical voices. According to shroud, AI is an eyesore for the Game Awards and this has led to the multiplayer title ARC Raiders not being considered for the main prize.
On Twitch, he says:
The world is simply not ready for AI in video games yet. They are just not ready. But hey, at least they nominated it [ARC Raiders, Editor’s note] for something. I really thought they wouldn’t nominate it for anything because they were afraid of negative reactions. But at least they nominated it for something, which is good.
shroud
The Game Awards did not completely ignore the game. It appears in the “Best Multiplayer” category. This at least makes shroud somewhat satisfied. However, he concludes: “Once again, another year, another manipulated year. This is crazy.”
By the way, shroud has a special opinion about one nominated game on the list. The fact that Donkey Kong Bananza is in the running for the Game of the Year award causes the streamer to shake his head:
Imagine Donkey Kong… If Donkey Kong were to win, this award ceremony would be over. Who the hell plays Donkey Kong Bananza? No one plays Donkey Kong Bananza. No one. This is crazy.
shroud
The streamer then makes his prediction and names Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as the likely winner of the Game Awards. He himself would award the prize to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Battlefield 6, according to shroud, will win “Best Action Game,” and ARC Raiders will at least win the multiplayer category.
The topic of AI, however, continues to spark discussions. The use of the technology in the creative field is controversial. What is your opinion on this? Does it bother you when AI is used in games? And what do you think about the nominees of the Game Awards? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. Another game also uses AI, but seems to do it right: While everyone is discussing AI in games, a new RPG hit is thrilling: ‘What I wished for my first MMORPG’
