In Apex Legends top player Shroud tried to raise a lot of money in a charity challenge. But it went horribly wrong.
This was the charity challenge: The popular YouTuber MrBeast has over 16 million subscribers on YouTube.
He is known for regularly calling out challenges involving a lot of money. He offers large sums of money that contestants can earn through various stunts.
If the participant is wealthy, the money goes to a good cause.
Recently, it was top player Shroud’s turn. Shroud is considered one of the best players of Apex Legends. His legendary skills with the virtual weapon have earned him the respectful nickname “human aimbot“.
But Shroud was not supposed to keep the money; instead, he would have donated it to a charitable cause.
$5000 per kill for a good cause
In the MrBeast challenge, Shroud was supposed to do what he does best: taking out hapless players in Apex Legends. For each kill, there was $5,000. MrBeast came live to Shroud and watched him play this cash round.
Given Shroud’s skills, a six-figure amount should have been certain.
Unstable game ruins everything
This is how it all turned out differently: Unfortunately, the game had other plans for Shroud’s challenge. Just as the pro had gathered $30,000, it suddenly went “boom” and he was back at the start screen. A bug had kicked him out of the game and ruined everything.
“Oh no, really? Did that just happen? Oh no, I was only at $30,000!”
This is how it ended: But in the end, MrBeast had a change of heart, and in the end, $100,000 was donated. As if Shroud had just had a top round in Apex Legends with 20 kills.
It would have been very unfair if a technical problem had permanently ruined the efforts for a good cause.
This is Shroud’s connection to Apex Legends: Shroud is an excellent player of Apex Legends. The hype around the shooter in February 2018 also accelerated his own rise on Twitch.
Moreover, he was significantly involved in the development of the game and influenced, among other things, the excellent gunplay and possibly had the new character Octane nerfed even before release.
